The Perfect Brow: Accentuating Eyebrows

2014 has witnessed a huge surge in eyebrow treatment popularity, thanks to certain celebrities such as Cara Delevinge. After Cara’s brows were showcased on the catwalk thousands of women have been trying to re-create the thick, perfectly shaped, bushy brow that is all the rage at the moment. Eyebrows have always been at the head of a woman’s beauty efforts and for centuries they have changed their style through history. Long gone are the days of thin, sparse, over-plucked eyebrows!! It is now all about using the hair in abundance to create the perfect shaped brow. To create the ‘perfect brow’ there are a number of treatments that can help with this:

1. Eyebrow Shape:ย Eyebrow shaping is a simple maintenance treatment for the brows. The brows should be regularly maintained to keep the desired shape. You can also use this treatment to totally re-design he shape of your brow, using waxing, threading or tweezing.

2. Eyebrow Tint:ย Once the brow has been shaped you may opt for a brow tint. This is were a tint is applied to the brow hairs to define their colour. The tint used will depend on things like skin tone, and the desired look you are trying to create.

3. Eyebrow Makeup:ย A product that has quickly become many woman’s best friend, is an eyebrow makeup palette. Used to define, darken and support the natural brow, eyebrow makeup is the choice for manyย when they have a special occasion or event to go to. It can give your brow that little extra glamour,ย different from its everydayย appearance.

PATCH TESTING
You should never underestimate the importance of having a patch test prior toย any eyebrow treatment that you have not had previously, or if it is your first timeย at aย new beauty centre. Before coming in forย treatment, make sure the beauty centre carries out a patch test at least 24 hours before your appointment.

If you would like to find out any more about any of the above Eyebrow Treatments or if you would like to book in to see one of our Beauty Specialists then please call the Belmore Centre on 01296 612361 or you can email us at enquiries@belmorecentre.co.ukย

TOP BEAUTY TIPS FOR ANTI AGEING

Spring is officially in season and in 10 days time it will be Mother’s Day. Women of Great Britain will be starting to think about their appearance as the sunshine sticks around and the warm weather and skimpy clothes will start emerging from the depths of winter! So, what better time to dish out some Top Tips for Anti Ageing and how to help make your skin look as fresh and as beautiful as possible!

Summer often heightens everyone’s positive attitudes and lifts the spirits of many and we want your skin to reflect this to, so here are our 10 top beauty tips for anti-ageing:

  1. Keep your skin hydrated at night.ย  Invest in a really good serum and apply before bed as night-time is when your skin takes the opportunity to replenish itself.ย  The best ones will have minerals to hydrate and nourish your face as you sleep.
  2. Try to use moisturising creams and toners from the same brand because they have been designed to work together.ย  Sometimes the ingredients in two different brands can conflict causing skin breakdown not anti-ageing rejuvenation.
  3. Donโ€™t neglect your neck. Most people, when applying their lotions and potions, pay lots of attention to their face, but stop at the jaw-line. Donโ€™t forget to moisturise your neck and chest too, to avoid the dreaded saggy โ€˜turkey neckโ€™ effect.
  4. Use a moisturiser that suits your skin type rather than one which has marketed at a certain age profile.
  5. When applying eye-liner, donโ€™t pull at your eyelids. This can eventually lead to sagging of the skin around your eyes.ย ย  Defining your eyes brings attention away from fine lines and wrinkles, but do this with a softer shade of liner that compliments your make up as solid black lines aren’t flattering for older skin.
  6. Donโ€™t try to cover sun spots with dark heavy foundation. Use a lighter foundation to give skin a fresher illuminated feel instead of weighing skin down.
  7. It has been proven that smells link strongly to our cognition and emotions. One study on men even found that grapefruit aroma made them perceive women as younger than they were. Worth remembering next time you go shopping for body lotion!
  8. Treat your skin to regular face masks and moisturise, moisturise, moisturise at home.ย  Have a good cleansing routine, and exfoliate once a week with a gentle exfoliator to remove dead skin cells, but have a monthly salon facial specifically designed to revitalise skin and even out your complexion.
  9. The skin on our hands often ages faster than the skin on the rest of our body so regularly moisturise hands with a strong moisturiser and pamper your hands with a manicure for special occasions.ย ย  Gorgeous looking gel or Shellac nails can take years off how old a womanโ€™s hands look.
  10. Hydrated skin equals younger looking skin. Drink plenty of water, especially in winter when the central heating dries it out a lot. Aim for around 8 glasses a day, to keep it plump and hydrated. Plus avoid white sugar โ€“ it speeds up the ageing process by binding to the collagen in your skin, which can eventually weaken it, leading to premature wrinkles and sagging.

So there you have it, take care of your skin and you will see the benefits, ready to enjoy the hot summer months ahead!

Statement Eyes

Spring is on it’s way and with it- statement eyes. It is all about bright colours, statement flicks and pastel hues this year. They have been rocking the catwalk this season and we love them!

Vibrant colours will brighten any eyes at the same time as giving a modern fresh look. We recommend pairing the bright eyes with natural make up to the face and lips, if you go in with bright lipstick as well you risk overdoing it and looking on the verge of tacky. For everyday wear keep the rest of the face simple, and let the eyes do all the work!

Nail Art – The begining of a new Era

We will soon be introducing the very popular treatment of Nail Art to The Belmore Centre carried out by the very talented Emma Williams. This is a trend that has been taking over the industry year after year and so we ask our selves, where did it all start?

Nail decoration can be traced back to 3000 B.C with the first ever nail polish coming from China. However it was not in the form it is today; ingredients like tree bark juices, bees wax and gelatin were used to create these nail paints and soon the popularity of nail decoration began.

As time moved on so did technology and nail paints have evolved into the varnishes and laquers we know today, bringing with them an array of colours, textures and techniques that give the modern day woman the chance to create masterpieces at the tips of their fingers!ย Not only can you choose from a huge variety of colours you can even now get nail jewellery! From tiny little gem stones, to stickers and swarovski crystals, the options are endless. It begs the question, what will be in store for nails another 100 years down the line? โ€ฆ. Polish that changes colour to suit the mood? Varnish that will bring you a new design each day it is worn? Or will we simply still be exploring the different trends we can set using bright colours, stencils and accessories! Who knows, for now we shall salute the glitter and glam that nail art can bring and will welcome it with open arms to The Belmore Centre later this year.
